Petrusville was named after Petrus Van Der Walt, The owner of the farm known as Rhenosterberg. The town lies in a fertile valley by a cluster of hills.

Petrusville is 48km Northeast of Philipstown and 108km from De Aar on the R48.

The Dutch reformed church museum houses a horse drawn, hooded cart and century old clothing. 

The Pillar Fountain was erected in honour of King Edward VII. Stone trenches from the Anglo Boer War can still be found in the Koppies of Petrusville
