The area is very popular with permanent residents, including many artists and others who value the serenity, as well as seasonal holidaymakers, who unwind on the pristine beach. The beach is popular with surfers and body-boarders, which are occasionally joined by curious dolphins. 

More minutes along the beautiful coastal path are a natural tidal pool, Davie's Pool, located at the popular Onrus Caravan Park. The pool is located immediately next to the beautiful Harder Bay Marine Reserve, where visitors can enjoy spectacular sunsets over the ocean in unspoiled natural surroundings.

Wandering the extensive cliff paths is an excellent way to spot the Southern Right Whales that inhabit Walker Bay between July and January each year. Indeed, Onrus celebrates the first calves born in the bay with a "Kalfiefees' (calves' festival) every August, with theatre, music and crafts as well as showcasing various local restaurants, bars and galleries. The first Saturday of every month also sees a craft festival in De Wetsaal in Roos Street.
